Evaluation of _________________________________’s Mathematical Modeling Portfolio

1.         Does the content of the portfolio address the indended purpose of the portfolio?

a.         Are there samples of her/his best work in problem solving and mathematical communication?

b.         Has she/he demonstrated that she/he can employ the course guidelines for fitting a model to data, and

c.         In her/his commentary and samples, does she/he indicate the acquision of the expected range and quality of mathematical skills, abilities, concepts, and appreciations?

2.         Does the portfolio include the expected elements?

a.         A table of contents?

b.         Some "best pieces" of group work with commentary?
c.         Some of her/his “best pieces” of individual work with comentary?

d.         Some non-graded, but worked-out, exercises with some brief comments;

e.         A brief letter to the instructor with relevant comentary/reflections?

3.         On a 0-5 scale, with 3 being satisfactory, how well has the student followed the guidelines for written work, and how well has she/he met the criteria for the evaluation of problem solving, model fitting, and mathematical communication?

a.         Problem Solving

b.         Model Fitting

c.         Communication  (Substantial reflection in problem solving, modeling, and commentary):

4.         On a 0-5 scale, with 3 being satisfactory, how well organized, attractive, potentially useful, and effective is the portfolio?
