Homework:
Homework problems from the text will be assigned
on a regular basis. Some of these are for your benefit. They will
help prepare you for quizzes and tests. For these problems, you may
work with others. These may also be discussed in class if there are
questions. Other textbook problems or other homework such as
small computer assignments will be collected for a grade. All assignments
to be collected for a grade should be done independently.
Cases of academic dishonesty will be reported to the
Office of Student Affairs and will go on file.
Group Project:
Students are to conduct a group project for which techniques and statistical
methods discussed in the course are applied. Each member of the group is
to share in the workload of the project. If a student does not do his/her
share, then the other group members should not include this student's name on
the the project. Groups will be established by mid October. In late
October, groups should be developing project ideas and begin planning phase.. By November 18, a topic and plan should be in place. Results of the project will be presented to the class
during the last 2-3 class periods. A
final written report will also be submitted on the last day of class.
ATTENDANCE: This course has been designed as a face to face class. We have been informed that we are not expected to deliver instruction remotely for courses scheduled to be taught in person. You are expected to attend all class meetings. If you cannot be in class, it is your responsibility to get the class notes and assignments from a classmate not from me via email. Once you review the notes, contact me if you have questions. My office hours will be both remote and in person. You may join me for questions remotely during office hour.
There will be attendance grades
assigned on days of group presentations. A zero homework grade will
be assigned to those absent on the day(s) of group presentations.
All written turn-in assignments must be completed
in pencil or typed from the computer. NO INK PLEASE! All
solutions must be accompanied by clearly written interpretations and conclusions
in complete sentences.

OTHER INFORMATION
1. There are no
make-up
quizzes.
2. Homework assignments will
not be accepted late.
3. Make-up tests are not going
to be given unless a student provides sufficient evidence of a reasonable
excuse. If the student knows of a problem in advance, he or she should
make arrangements with me in advance. If an emergency prevents you from
taking an exam, you must contact me as soon as possible. If the absence
is excused, a make-up will be given at the time of the final exam.
Any unexcused absence will result in a zero on the exam. 4. All cell
phones should be turned off during class time. Cell phones are
not allowed as calculators. NO TEXT MESSAGING!! 5. All students need a
scientific or graphing calculator. No cell phones or PDA's. Sharing
of calculators on tests and quizzes is not allowed.
