School Climate & SafeSpace Programming

I have conducted school climate surveys for public schools throughout the region.  Schools examining their school climate can contact me about carrying out a school climate study.  I also offer workshops for teachers on responding to bullying and hate speech in schools.  Additionally, I can tailor SafeSpace programming for your school community.  SafeSpace is a curriculum that seeks to foster non-threatening environments for GLBTQ people.  My work on school climate and bullying has been sought after by such prestigious institutions as Rutgers University-Newark.  I have also presented at numerous conferences.

Holocaust & Social Justice Education

Over 25 years ago, I led my first group of high school students on summer exchange programs to Hamburg, Nürnberg, and the former Eastern Bloc.  That experience has come full circle as I received a Holocaust Educators Network Fellowship in Summer 2012.  Along with SU colleagues, I am developing professional development materials for educators on teaching the Holocaust and other genocides, and how to use pivotal events like the Shoah to teach within the broader topic of social justice.
