International Children's Literature:
Tentative Agenda

Cost of the program ($3800) includes all travel, fees, 3 credits tuition, accomodations, breakfasts, and an international student ID card (which carries with it minimal insurance needed).

Lunch and dinner (with the exceptions of two banquets) are individual and not paid for as part of the program. Students are advised to bring $40 per day for food expenses.

April TBA -- Meeting with Director of International Programs to fill out pertinent paperwork, discuss travel arrangements.

May TBA – Meeting to review the syllabus and reading list.

July 20 -- Course commences at Salisbury University will meet for 4 hours in Caruthers Hall 128.  Students living off the Eastern Shore can arrange to do this work online. Visit to Assateague.

July 21  -- Meet with co-author of Memories of Survival Bernice Steinhardt at 11 AM in Caruthers Hall 128  memories

Bus from Salisbury University to BWI leaving 2:00. Fly to Iceland (leave BWI at 8:45 P.M.).

July  22 -- 24 Iceland  (arrive in Iceland 6:42 AM).

Freetime: explore Viking Village take bus to downtown Reykjavik.  Lunch and dinner on own.


July 23 Take flybus to Guesthouse 101 in Reykjavik

10 AM -- Visit Culture House-- see Icelandic sagas and edddas

Noon -- lunch on own (culture house is in the middle of downtown with many restaurants and cafes. Anyone who wishes to join the group eating with the authors at a restaurant is welcome

July 25Flybus to airport.  Arrive in Copenhagen at 12:45.   Train to Copenhagen.  Stay at Danhostel.

July 26:  Travel to Hillerød by S train.

1:00 -- Lunch at Fredericksborg Castle   Menu: Leonoras frokostanretning -- smoked salmon and green asparagus, shrimps with mayonnaise, chicken salad with bacon, brie, bread and butter; beer or soda, and coffee (130 Dkr)

Evening Free in Copenhagen (Tivoli, Mojos...)


July  27:  Leave Copenhagen around 8:30 reach Hamburg  (5 hour drive/ferry; luggage/books no longer needed can be stored at Danhostel)

3:30  Meet with  Birte Mûller  birte       teddynight     farley  

and Julia Goschke  goschke      longears at Mûller's studio then go for coffee and a boat ride.

Dinner with Dietlof Reiche author of the Freddy series and Ghostship  reiche  freddy  ghostship

Stay at Holiday Inn   (This is a 4 star hotel with a pool and a sauna!)


July  28  Leave Hamburg by 9 AM. for Bremen (2 hour drive)

Freetime from 11 AM to 3 PM in Bremen

Proceed to Cologne (3 hours drive) for overnight. Stay at Jugendherberge Köln-Riehl
