International Children's Literature Course to Australia and New Zealand
June 15-July 6 2010 (tentative dates)

Most of what we will do as a group will relate directly to the children's literature focus of the course.  We will want to also engage in some tourist activities as a group and there will be time to do things individually (especially for the tag-alongs. Some of the most highly recommended sites/attractions are listed below in case you are interested in investigating possibilities.

Around Christchurch, New Zealand:
  • Ko Tane Living Maori Village at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve
  • Southern Encounter Aquarium  (includes tuatara!)
  • International Antarctic Attraction
  • Christchurch Gondola, ride the gondola to 500 metres above sea level
  • Art Centre
  • Garden Tour and Botanic Gardens
  • Riccarton House & Bush; historic mansion from 1840s (one of the first settler families, with a forest preserve, trees 600 years old)
  • Transalpine train across the south island

Around Auckland, New Zealand:
