November 20 Leases Chapter 15 Problem 15-2.  For next class, read first requirement of the Business Activity Model (BAM).  Arrange to meet with your team outside of class to formulate questions to pose to the client (me) during the next class.  (Ideally, each group should come up with nine questions about the financial statements and disclosures.) Prior to the following class, look through the basic set of financial questions and determine whether anything appears to be missing (EPS disclosure, Statement of Cash Flows, common stock specifics, allowance for bad debts, supplies, deferred fees), and whether anything is there that should not be.  Is there anything in the statements that seems to contradict what you read in the narrative description of the company's activities?   
November 25 BAM Requirement 1 @ 2:  Demonstration Ch. 5, p. 213; Ch. 19, pp. 902-903, Ch. 20, pp. 945-947; Ch. 3, pp. 132-134. Professor will demonstrate how teams should ask the client questions about specific aspects of its financial statement presentation.  For example (this is a freebee), "Is an allowance for doubtful accounts needed, i.e., are all of your receivables considered collectible?" Other hints are to look at supplies, start-up and licensing costs, maintenance contracts, lease agreements (Ch. 15), common stock information, EPS, statement of cash flows.   Also, professor will  demonstrate correcting entries and corrected financial statements for year 1.

December 11 BAM Correcting Entries for Year 2

Student groups will present correcting journal entries.  Meet with your group outside of class to prepare corrected financial statements for Year 2. These will be due the day of the final examination.

Please note that you are welcome to attempt additional problems on your own.  Solutions to chapter problems will be made available in the library after coverage of each chapter is completed.
