TEST POLICY:

    In-Class Tests

Individual exams will be given as scheduled and make-up tests will be given only if I am provided with a written doctor's note within one-week of the missed test.

In the event that a student believes that his/her exam has been incorrectly graded, he/she has one week after the exam is returned to appeal to the professor.  This appeal must be accompanied with by written statement that provides references to sources that the student believes support his/her contention.

     Take-Home Projects (Tests)

These projects are designed to enhance student research skills through the presentation of questions related to specific financial accounting practices.  In researching the answers to the questions posed on these tests, students will gain a better understanding of the subject matter.  The subject matter compliments that covered in the BAM case, and is critical to an in-depth understanding of the proper treatment of the selected transactions.

Homework Assignments:

Assignments are to be prepared by each individual student.  Students should use the course software or electronic spreadsheets when appropriate. Problems due on a particular date should be printed out and contain the problem or exercise number, the class (Intermediate Accounting 1), and your student number (to be assigned during the first week of class). Late submission of homework assignments is not allowed under any circumstances.

Team Assignments:

Students will complete assigned case requirements in teams after the first in-class exam.  This approach has been adopted because: 1) research shows that learning improves when using this technique; and, 2) professional accountants perform a significant portion of their work in groups.  Students will be assigned to teams of four during the first few weeks of class, and all team assignments are final.
