Music Reaction
Paper Guidelines
  Please attend one musical group performance (either choral or instrumental) and
respond with a critique that follows the guidelines listed below.
1. Please head your reaction paper as follows in the top left corner:

2. Please address the following questions in your reaction composition:

    1) Please describe the performance - was it one piece of music (by whom?)
or several works by a variety of composers (if so, please list)?  Was there one
group performing (ie.Salisbury Symphony) or several, and did they perform
together or separately?

    2) What period of music are these works from?  Who were the composers?
Are they American or foreign?  Is there a theme that links these works together?

    3) How do these musical compositions compare with popular music today
(assuming they were the popular music of their era) and how do they reflect the
values of these societies?

    4) Did you enjoy the concert?  Why or why not?  Were the works well-
performed?  any works or movements in particular that stand out, either positively or negatively?

Format:
    There is a 2-page minimum, and it must be typed, doubel-spaced, in 12 point, 1-inch margins, and stapled.  If the response is sent by e-mail, please send as an
attachment in Microsoft word.

Due Date:  Please submit your reaction by the Friday following the performance.
