GRADE COMPUTATION

MATH 495 is a PASS/FAIL course worth 4 credit hours.  To pass, you must participate in each of the following activities satisfactorily and complete the milestones on time.

(1) discussions in class                                10 points
(2) research or computation outside class    30 points
(3) preparing the written client report           30 points
(4) participating in the spoken client report   10 points
(5) writing a value added paper                    20 points

Your journal is a bound, dated record of what you think and do each day you actually work on the project.  It will guide your research and form the basis of your value added paper.  Your activity outside class will be judged by what you record.  Describe any computations you consider and your conclusions.  Describe your questions, brainstorms, and plans, including diagrams and graphs.
(You will not be graded on spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, but please compose clearly and write legibly.)  Your value added paper will say what you learned and accomplished in the course.  Take care with these items, because they will likely form the basis of any letter of reference I write for you later.
