Technology & Achievement

Critics such as Larry Cuban question the effectiveness of technology to increase student achievement.  However, more and more research, is documenting technology's effectiveness.  Technology can affect students in many ways including:

bulletEvidence of increased achievement gains on standardized tests
bulletIncreased interest, perceptions, and attitudes toward learning
bulletIncreased interactions in quality and quantity (collaborative learning)
bulletCost effectiveness of using technology for academic achievement
bulletImproved quality of student products and projects
bulletWork goes beyond the educational setting
bulletIncreased achievement in low socioeconomic status and race/gender
bulletImproved communication between administration, teacher/student, and parent
bulletWorks to decrease the digital divide
