Computers in Education

Course Description
This course presents an overview of the role of computers in education. Students in the course will examine computer applications and their use as a tool to solve problems as part of the learning process. Lesson design and classroom management techniques for using computers in the classroom will be explored. 

Course Overview 
This course examines educational technology and its current and potential impact on schools. The course provides an introduction to the role of computers in the teaching and learning process as well as how computers are transforming the organization of schools. It examines the history of educational technology, the applications of computers in contemporary learning environments, and techniques for integrating technology into the classroom.. 

The class will include some lecture but primarily it will consist of small and large group discussions and "hands-on" activities while working in a computer "laboratory". The use of the computer will be an integral part of the class activities and students will be encouraged to use the computer to facilitate information sharing throughout the class.
