Thoughts on Grading
Early in 2008 I proposed that Salisbury University adopt a plus/minus grading system. The Faculty senate referred the proposal to its Academic Policies committee, which decided not to consider it until the impact of changes in the Fulton Liberal arts curriculum had been assessed. Somewhat to my surprise, it was discussed by the Student Government Association in April of 2008. As I hope this conversation has paused, rather than ended, I include the proposal and a supporting appendix listing schools which have adopted plus/minus grading. While I have gained the support of some of my colleagues at Salisbury University, I am solely responsible for the documents, their arguments and any errors or omissions.
