Homework Assignments on WebAssign
  • Second Test on chapters 2 and 3 and sections 4.5 and 4.5 Thursday October 10 for a 90 minute interval between 3:30 and 7.

  • The Final exam will be Thursday December 12 at 4:15.

We will be using webassign for routine homework assignments in this course. Students are responsible for ensuring that they have access to webassign. If you purchase the textbook recommended through the SU bookstore then you will have such access included along with instructions for getting access.

Please note that Firefox is the recommended browswer for WebAssign at this time.

You can use the following instructions to access WebAssign:

    1. Go to http://webassign.net/login.html
    2. Click on the "I Have a Class Key" link
    3. Enter the information below to identify yourself as a member of my class (I recommend block and copy...)
      • salisbury 4028 6862
    4. After your class key is recognized, complete the information requested. Make sure that the name you use is the same one you have in GullNet! Unless you already have a web Assign account, please use your SU username and be sure that your email address is correctly entered.
    5. If you complete this before August 26 then you will not be able to access the course yet although you will be "enrolled".
This powerpoint presentation contains the publisher's instructions on obtaining access.

And here is an instruction sheet from WebAssign:-)

There is a wealth of support available for students using webassign which can be found at this link.

In addition to the webassign exercises, I will collect weekly homework summaries every Monday (or Tuesday if we do not meet Monday) beginning September 3rd. These will generally be just a paragraph or two, either typed or handwritten neatly, summarizing your understanding of the homework and the material presented in class. Make sure you indicate in your summary any topic or problem that you remain unsure of. Describe your difficulty. Also include anything you found particularly interesting. Occasionally, I may assign an extra problem or so that I want you to complete by hand to turn in with your summary. In that case you should include in your summary a description of how you went about solving the extra problem(s), how confident you are in your solution(s) and any thing that caused you difficulty.
