Entry Slips

Each class period except those during which there is a test each student must bring an entry slip or ticket to class. These slips should be little slips of paper on which you have written the following:

• The problem number and source(i.e. Webassignment, handout or text section or page number) of a problem that you found either particularly difficult or particularly interesting. Or you could choose a problem for which you have a solution of which you are particularly proud.
• One or two sentences - NO MORE; No Less!!! - saying why you found the problem or your solution particularly difficult or interesting.
• If you have not done any homework (THIS SHOULD BE A RARE OCCURRENCE) then a statement to that effect will suffice -- on occasion.
• If no homework has been assigned (the day after a test perhaps) then write a statement about your general understanding of course material.

  Purpose of this assignment: To speed up the beginning of class when you are usually looking for the problems you want to ask about. To give me more information on where you are.
  
  Effect on grade: I will not generally (after the first class) take roll. If I don't have an entry slip from you then I will not have a record that you attended and you will not get credit for attending that class. See the attendance policy.
