COSC 119 Project Requirements

20% of the final grade will be determined by your Web Site Project.  The project can be a web site for an existing organization, company, church, etc. or it can be a mythical organization, company, church etc. that you make up!
The project must include the following:

     1.
Project must consist of at least 5 web pages, each linking to each other through some kind of common “menu bar” that is consistent across each page.
      2.
Each page must have a page outline turned in before the project is due.  This could be called your web site algorithm.

      3.     At least 2 pages must use Javascript (other than write or writeln).
      4.
Your website must use at least 2 forms, 1 table, 1 list, 3 or more images, 1 use of fragment ID’s, 1 link to an external webpage.  One form should include text areas and radio or check boxes similar to the Don’s pizza example of Lesson 5.  The other form should include order information similar to the Betty’s Bakery example of Lesson 2.  The order form should be validated which is shown in Lesson 11 and uses conditional statements as learned in Lesson 8.  This could be done last since you have not yet learned how to do this.
      5.
The homepage must have some type of heading or header image.
      6.
You must use an external CSS file for your website (inline or embedded styles may override the external sheet in some cases, but this should not be common).
      7.
The Javascript that is not within the <body> of your pages should be embedded in the heading or in an external .js file.
      8.
In validating forms (number 3 above) you will use Javascript functions or methods.  Be sure to include functions or methods in other sections as well.
      9.
Your webpages should validate.

A hardcopy of all pages must be presented in a folder and turned in on the due date.  An e-mail to me giving the exact link to the home page (on your htdocs folder) must be given and you must turn in a jump drive with all the pages, pictures, css, javascript etc. in a common subfolder on the drive that I can copy to my computer.  NOTE:  some projects may be too large for your P: drive, in that case you may turn in just the jump drive and the printed copies of all pages in a folder.

Algorithm due date:  November 8

Project due date:       November 18

No projects will be accepted if they are not in a folder!!!!!!

Go on the internet and look at various sites:  I don't expect the project to be of the same caliber since these sites were designed with web development software, but they are given to give you ideas.
You may NOT use web development software.  It must be done using html, css and javascript.
