FTP will allow you to up or down load files from (to) your terminal
to (from) network or main frame computer.
It is useful to use FTP to transfer files created in UNIX to your local
drive to be printed.
1) Double click on the FTP icon on the disktop
2) Profile name should be left alone (SAA)
3) At host name/address type nixon
4) Host_Type should be automatic detect
5) Type in your own userid and password in the appropriate
boxes.
6) Click OK
7) You will then see two windows side by side. (It is actually just one window with 2 window inserts) (If your computer has a sound card you might hear a train whistle as well).
8) The left is your local environment (your computer). If you scroll down the list you can find all the drives connected to your system. Click on the drive you like and also click in the directory that you want to work in. You can change directory by clicking on ChgDir and inputting the directory you want.
9) You should see a list of files in that directory.
10) The right is the remote environment and the process of finding the directory to use is the same as above.
11) Then when you are ready, just double click on the file you want to transfer and it will automatically transfer a copy to the "other side".
12) When you are finished just exit.
