Organic Machine assignment:

For this paper, please analyze the idea of an "organic machine." White uses this metaphor to describe and explain a particular type of human/nature relationship. What are the strengths and weaknesses of this metaphor? You might consider this by trying to imagine another example of an organic machine - something other than the Columbia River and its associated dams, etc.  Does the metaphor work as well in other situations?
