Evaluation Procedures

There will be three exams and a comprehensive final along with regular homework assignments and weekly quizzes. On all problems, please show your work. No work, no credit (even for correct answers). This applies to exams as well. In general, there will be no make up exams. The final grade for the course will be calculated in this fashion: Homework 25%, Quizzes 15%, Tests 40%, Final 20%. If your grade on the final exam is higher than your lowest regular test score it will replace that score.

Grading Scale:

90-100% - A
80-89.9% - B
70-79.9% - C
60-69.9% - D
0-59.9% - F

Attendance Policy:

You are expected to attend all classes. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to get the notes and the assignments from another member of the class.

Homework:

Homework will be assigned, collected and graded on a regular basis. Each student will be allowed to turn in one homework assignment late without penalty. Otherwise, late homework will receive a 15% deduction each day up to three days after the due date. You are encouraged to form study groups and work together on the homework, however the paper you turn in should reflect your own work. A good strategy is to first try to solve all of the problems yourself and then meet with some of your classmates who have also attempted all of the problems to discuss the problems that you have been unable to solve. Homework assignments will usually be due two class periods after they are assigned.
