Constructing the Woods:
The Environmental History of Forests in Wicomico County

Constructing the Woods is arranged in a rough chronological order. The chapters are designed to be read sequentially, as they build upon earlier analyses and arguments, but each chapter also stands on its own. This student-written publication is the result of a class project in the spring of 2006. Each chapter has a separate bibliography, and the sources indicated there are useful places to look for further detail about the topics raised in these essays. Each chapter makes clear that the history of forests, and human uses and perceptions of these forests, is complex.  This volume serves as a useful introduction to this topic for Wicomico County.
