A Little About Me...

I am currently serving my 30th year in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Salisbury Univeristy after obtaining a BS in Physics from Mary Washington College and PhD in Mathematics from Virgnia Tech. Although my academic interests are varied, teaching is my passion first and foremost. Working with students in the classroom, through mentored projects, and even more social settings such as academic clubs, living learning communities, and summer transition programs, has been central to most that I have done for the last three decades. In particular, mentoring undergraduate research and software engineering students is one of my favotite activities. K-12 outreach is also a priority and I have worked extensively with local students in a variety of capacities, including active learning enhancement activites during weekends and summers as well as organizing campus visits for the local K-12 population. Likewise, working with public school teachers via professional developent workshophs, curricular design, and lesson plan creation has also been an emphasis to our collaborations with neighboring counties. Education is central to the success of both students and the greater communities at large. Anything I can do to be a small part of advancing student learning is cerainty worth the effort. Over the years I have learned a wealth of ideas and new perspecives from students and other educators and look forward to that continuing during the upcoming years. In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors. Living on the Eastern Shore provides great opportunities to cycle, paddle board, and spend time in our RV with my family. Sitting at a waterfront campsite while listening to an old jazz albumn and thinking about mathematics is always a great way end the summer. It gets me excited to work with the next group of amazing students starting in the fall!
